The Lumpinee Boxing Stadium is one of the best known sports arenas in Thailand. Known for holding its weekly traditional Thai kickboxing matches, called Muay Thai, it’s a place where visitors can quite readily experience one the region’s most exciting and violent activities.
With decades of development in the sport, most kickboxing fans consider Muay Thai to be far ahead of its Khmer counterpart, called Kun Khmer, making it as much a spectacle as a point of pride for the Thai constituency. At Lumpinee Stadium, located just outside of Bangkok, you will find a traditional indoor arena holding the best fights in the country.
Every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday in the evenings, the Royal Thai Army-owned arena transforms from quiet to hundreds of screaming fans, some throwing hand signals and making bets with bookies located on site. It is a must for any sports fan.
