Tobruk Sheep Station

Modern Australia was built on the back of homesteading pioneers, where hard work and days on the farm were building blocks for success. Sydney today has all the glitz of a swanky urban metropolis, but it only takes a short drive from town to harness the outback spirit.

At the sprawling Tobruk Sheep Station—a 50-acre working sheep farm with views of the distant Blue Mountains—spend a day in the dusty boots of a rural, sheep-farming Aussie. Learn how to properly crack a whip or throw an Australian boomerang, and try your hand at shearing sheep after they’ve been rounded up in the pen. Feast on bush tucker and billy tea that would fuel pioneering stockmen, and enjoy a fiery Aussie BBQ cooked on an open flame. This is a real look at a real ranch where history is lived in the present, and a way to experience the down-home friendliness of local, hardworking Aussies.
