A truly wonderful overview of Japanese culture. Delightful performances in a lovely district, plus an excellent dinner after the Tea Ceremony.

Our tour guide was lovely and it was really good having a small tour group.

As someone with a previous interest in the culture of Japan, I found this to be a great evening. The tour guide was excellent and she ran things very smoothly. The performances in Gion Corner were fantastic, and we were convinced we had made the right choice when as we left, the queue had reached the outside of the theatre! We had had it almost to ourselves!
The tour continued with a traditional tea ceremony, where the symbolism was all explained to us, and we rounded the night off with tempura.
All in all a fantastic tour, and all the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful.

Generally an enjoyable experience. The guides English skills were a little poor so this made it difficult to ask any in-depth question about the cultural aspects of our tour without receiving a puzzled .woahoa?as an embarrassed statement. He was however, very polite and friendly. The tour itself highlighted with a personal tea ceremony at a private Zen teahouse. Wonderful. The show was good but differcult to see as all these tourists kept wanting to see as well. I would recommend u get to the theatre early get a front seat. All in all a chance to experience this beautiful and complex culture.

Excellent tour! Directions were clear on where and when to meet at a hotel different from where we were staying. Our guide was prompt, organized and well-prepared. Taxis drove us to the Gion area - exactly like we pictured it. We were part of a medium-sized group, yet our guide tried to make sure everyone could hear her. She explained the traditional show before it began so we would know what to expect. Although she had a schedule to keep, she was kind to give us a moment to snap a photo many times. The traditional dinner was delicious (although some in the group were. to as adventurous to try's something different), and the tea ceremony was so informative! (Loved learning about the special little door). Definitely recommend this tour!

A wonderful night thanks to the intamacy of the tea ceremony and Zen dinner. Was less impressed with the cultural performance, but we were in the back row and could not see very much. The tea ceremony was the best I've been to - really special!!

This was a great way to spend an evening in Kyoto. The short presentations of different Japanese cultural arts was great. The only problem was the other 300 people there! Then walking through Gion with an English speaking guide was really informative and you could ask questions about the life of Geiko and Maiko, which are still professions today. The vegetarian tempura meal was tasty in a nice ryokan setting, and the private tea ceremony with detailed explanations was a peaceful way to end the evening. A nice surprise was that we were taken back to our apartment by taxi at the end.

Overall it was a good experience.
We went to see a 50 minute show on Japanese traditions, took a 5 minute walk by Gion, dinned in a place where we also had a tea ceremony.
The transfer from the hotel to Gion was made by taxi.
The tea ceremony really saved the not so good experience and turned it into a good one.
I would personally recommend it only if you haven't got anything else booked. Otherwise, in my opinion, you can totally skip this.

Nice guide, show and tea ceremony. Food was okay. Tour is a bit expensive though, considering the short time it takes.

Dinner and tea at Ryokan was great. Tour guide did not provide enough additional information about the area and history.

We wished that the group size was smaller to make this a more intimate experience but great overall tour.

Overall a good experience we would have appreciated getting to the theater earlier and getting better seats.

Very nice tour, June was a very good guide. Show was very good, but crowded. Area is very historical. Food was vegetarian but fried would have preferred steamed or grilled. Overall a nice tour in a lovely district. We would recommend this tour to get a feel of the Gion area. Did not see many Geisha's walking as they were mostly inside.

The Pick Up from Hotel Okura Kyoto was delayed. As a result we did not get any seats at the Gion Corner Theatre since it was overbooked.
The food served at the Dinner was vegetarian only.
Other than the above two negative issues, it was a nice experience and we enjoyed the evening.

Unfortunately it was torrential rain on our tour date and I don't feel we were able to appreciate the Gion district fully that night . I was a title disappointed with the show - and selfie sticks should definitely be banned ! The meal was very good - but felt it was all a little rushed.

The performance is not very valuable. The dinner in ryokan and Tea ceremony are very interesting. The English of guide was dificult to understand. Also at the end we were urged to leave ryokan very soon without tíme to enjoy dinner and athmospere. It all took much shorter than promised.

The tour was disorganized at the beginning and we had to wait for 2 people who were very late so we got to the theatre after the performance had started and had to sit in the back. The description of the tour included a walking tour through Gion after the theatre but our guide knew nothing about Gion and was at a loss when we asked about it. The best part of the tour was the dinner and the tea ceremony. The dinner was okay and the tea ceremony was awesome.

The further the Tour went the better it got. The cultural experience in the theater was boring and because the group was late, we had no sitting places. The walking tour in gion was so so. The dining in the old teahouse was amazing
