The biggest surprise for me was, while waiting for a large bus with about 20 others, a small van pulled up with space for one - me! I was delighted there was the guide/driver and six of us. This made the day very friendly and Barry made us laugh all day despite occasional rain. I have driven to these sites a few times over about 30 years and to have another navigate and drive as well as fill on ones knowledge gaps was fantastic. The grouping of such significant Neolithic sites - Stonehenge, Avebury Circle via West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill was exactly what I had wanted to visit and was a logical and important grouping. Despite having visited these sites before, I am looking forward to returning again next year as these places resonate greatly beyond the actual physical structures - they are made by the first people to leave permanent structures/marks on the land. Each visit is a different experience, particularly with the often dramatic changes in light.

Wonderful experience, wonderful guide. Avebury was a delight but I wish we could have had more time to wander among the stones. The trip to Stonehenge proved more memorable than I had imagined. It was fantastic to be able to walk among the stones while the guide explained the history and attempts to stabilize the site. It was truly awesome and a beautiful sight at sunset. Well worth the time and money.

The places were amazing! In Avebury, it was really moving to be able to touch the stones, and walk all around the circle and the town. The Red Lion food was very good! Stonehenge is, of course, a must see...Our tour guides, however, were mediocre at best. The bus driver wouldn't stop talking the entire time, and kept speaking over/correcting the guide who was actually saying very little. Make these destinations a priority, but not with this tour group.
