Weather indifferent and contradictory instructions about rendezvous at San Bento, one saying be there at 8.30 but 20 minutes earlier, the other 8.45. In the end the guides said 8.50. Nice train journey, ditto boat trip. Lunch not highest gastronomy but generous and filling wine poured with open hand. Five-hour lunch!

Excellent way to spend the day. The train trip was great but the trip back by the boat was excellent. The food was very good and the staff was great. We enjoyed the company of other travelers, very friendly. I strongly recommend the tour if you have a full day to spare.

After the 2 hour train trip to Regua, the cruise back down the Duoro was peaceful. The lunch was excellent and we enjoyed the bottle of red wine, which came with the lunch. The crew were all very friendly and helpful.

We really enjoyed this tour , the scenery was fantastic , great weather and the lunch was excellent. Every thing was done on time .. The only thing that would have added was a stop to see the grapes up close

The tour guide was efficient but not very friendly. Her English was adequate but heavily-accented. she spoke so fast that I understood perhaps ten percent of what she said. That being said, the tour was worthwhile. the lunch on the boat was wonderful: pork loin, a bottle of good red wine, orange juice, water, lots of mixed vegetables and chocolate mousse for dessert. More food than my wife and I could eat. the boat was comfortable and we enjoyed the trip a lot

The train trip took us inland and eventually followed the river. The boat was comfortable and spacious and the lunch was enormous. There were many point so of interest along the boat trip and the only way I found out details about them e.g. the incredible locks - 1 of which is the deepest drop in the world was to harass the boat staff. To have either a commentary, or even better, a brochure with all the information would have been much appreciated.

Smooth arrangements at Sao Bento Station for departure, and onto the boat. Excellent lunch included all beverages. Going though 2 huge locks en route to Porto was amazing. Could have done without the non-stop loud music though which disturbed the tranquillity of the trip. Heard that the best vineyard scenery lies further on-between Pinhao and Regua-, so would go further up the river next time.

Guide did not provide us with any information which would have been nice especially on the train ride.

Disappointing that the tour is advertised as train and boat, when the train part of the trip is evidently available only on Saturdays.
Also I am still waiting - 29/9 - on an email response to a question I asked on 20/9 about the coach instead of train, which was 7 days prior to the trip!

I wouldn't recommend this trip. It is over 8 hours on a slow-moving boat, with nowhere comfortable to sit in the blazing heat. The first 1-2 hours are beautiful as you go through the wine region. Then it's just monotonous.
Further, if your'e a solo traveler, you'll want to poke your eyes out. Lots of families - not a single other solo traveler to be found.
Save your money and your time - I would not spend an entire day on this!
