Two thumbs up! This small tour can't be beat. Our driver, guide and BBQ chef Nigel kept us informed and laughing the whole day, and went out of his way to take care of things for us. Thank you for a memorable experience.

This was a great experience and one I would do again or recommend to anyone. The BBQ bus had great communication and was even 5 minutes early for pick-up. The driver/guide was the owner of the company for our particular day and trip. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and was glad to talk to us about anything and everything. It was raining the whole day and the bus even had umbrellas for us to use. The food was great and there were plenty of stops offered. Boat cruise was also top notch. On the way back to Queenstown, a movie was even shown for our entertainment. All in all, a great day. I would highly suggest booking directly on the BBQ bus' website though!

Awesome trip! I'm so glad I booked this trip versus one of the bigger tour busses. While we were on the same path as some of the bigger ones, since we had a smaller group we were able to beat the huge crowds to most places giving us first dibs at pictures without masses of people in the background and bathrooms when necessary. Furthermore, our tour guide Nigel made a point to learn everyone's name and include everybody in conversations/jokes/stories along the way which made a day with a lot of driving pass quickly. We were also able to stop at a few extra places and be flexible with our plan and take advantage of the best places possible that suited our specific group and weather the best. The lunch provided was awesome also, one of the best lamb kebab's I've ever had for sure. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone else thinking about doing Milford Sound in one day. One other advantage, we had a smaller cruise boat than other trips too so we were able to be outside on the deck, versus just inside the larger ferry boats. 10/10 would do again.

Our guide Nigel made the trip really great! Unexpected snow in November made it truly memorable, even though the cold weather wasn and #39;t ideal, still an amazing experience.

BBQ Bus is the way to go visit Milford Sound. Very personal trip, the driver giving historical accounts of the area on the drive up... we did not hit a great day weather-wise rainy and foggy but my family enjoyed the trip and mentioned that it was nice that we weren't on the larger tourist buses since we made a couple stops along the way and then were right back on the road to Milford Sound. Driver even picked my family up and droppped us off across the street from where we were staying. Highly recommend!

Driver/guide was great at stopping at nice places to stretch/snack/take pictures along the way, food was home made and very tasty. It was a long trip, but a good balance of stories along the way and down time.

We had a clear day and Milford Sound was amazing. Saw dolphins, penguins, and seals. The waterfalls were great. And, if the Captain says, You my get wet, - you should heed his warning. The bus ride over with Marty on the BBQ bus was very relaxing and well thought-out. Totally enjoyable experience.

Great trip. Small tour with more personal feel than the meg-buses. Very convenient hotel pick-up and dropped us off at another spot upon request. If you plan to tour Milford Sound while in Queenstown, I highly recommend this tour.

Nigel did a wonderful job providing fascinating insights on the trip. The small group tour allowed us to hike some trails rather than just following the herd on the larger coaches. Nigel prepared a delicious BBQ lunch with diverse meats and salads.

I was so excited about visiting Milford Sound and not only did this trip meet all my expectations, it far exceeded them.

Before I begin

- Yes, it is a long day we were picked up at 7:30am and dropped off at 8:30pm and we were the last and first respectively
- Yes, the weather is unpredictable and you may get sun, rain, clouds, wind, etc.

Our driver was Marty and he was absolutely fantastic. From the moment he picked us up to the moment he dropped us off, he was friendly, chatty, and provided a wealth of information. We did part of the same drive we'd done the day before, but it was far richer for all the history, facts, and local stories.

One of my favourite things about this tour is that it's as much about the journey as the destination. Some of the pit stops along the way were GORGEOUS and a great way to break up the long drive. Considering the ever-changing, winding, steep road and huge distance from Queenstown, we were so glad to have someone experienced at the wheel - it meant we could relax and take in the breathtaking scenery and surrounds.

We stopped at Cascade Creek for lunch and it was utterly serene the mountains, the babbling water, the flora surrounding us. Then there was lunch itself chicken marinated in mango and sweet chili sauce, lamb skewers, sausages, fresh bread, pasta salad, and fruit juice.

The small group means more frequent stops and a MUCH more intimate experience. I believe we had 14 people on the bus and not many more on the boat, making for a wonderful cruise experience. We were able to access every vantage point to see the fur seals, spot rainbows, and literally stand under a waterfall. I can't compare the experience of sailing through the fjords to anything else I've ever seen or done it's untouched and seems like another world.

Thank you so much, Marty, it was an unforgettable day and experience - and one we're still daydreaming about!
