This morning you will be greeted at your residing hotel in Taipei and taken on an in-depth tour of the city. The journey will commence at the timeworn western region of Taipei where the city first set up its roots. Our first stop, Long Shan Temple, is one of the most highly-regarded religious and community centers in the country and a must-see attraction for its unique architectural styling. From there, we’ll take a short stroll to the Bopiliao Historic District to visit well-preserved streets and traditional shop homes left over from the Qing Dynasty, as well as buildings from the Japanese occupation and early post-war periods. For lunch we’ll get a chance to sample a variety of authentic eateries that have been passed down through generations. Next we’ll travel to Dadaocheng Wharf, where tea and cloth were the main items traded during the colorful and memorable years of past. There is also a bikeway by the wharf for riverside cycling if time and weather allows. Before dinner at the world-renowned Din Tai Fung soup dumpling restaurant, we’ll take the fastest elevator in the world up atop Taipei 101 for a majestic view of the entire city. This modern marvel was once the world’s tallest building and still retains the crown as the highest LEED certified green building. Today's program will conclude with a quick visit to the Shihlin night market for an unforgettable snacking and shopping experience.
