Day 1: Arrival in Yangon
When you arrive at the Yangon airport, your private guide meets you and transfers you to your hotel. You have the evening to yourself to rest up before an early start the next morning.

Overnight: 3-star Clover Hotel or similar, Yangon

Day 2: Yangon – Bagan (B, L)
Have breakfast at your hotel, and then transfer to the airport for your morning flight to Bagan. When you arrive, your local guide greets you to start your full-day sightseeing tour of Bagan’s renowned temples. Traveling by private car, head to a pagoda that you can climb to take in panoramic views over the lush plain. Then visit stunning temples such as Ananda, Dhammayangyi, Sulamani or Thatbyinnyu. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and an afternoon tour by horse cart to Pyathagyi Pagoda, where you'll watch the sunset from the pagoda while sipping a refreshing drink. Your guide returns you to your hotel, where you are free for the evening.

Overnight: 3-star Bawgatheiddhi Hotel or similar, Bagan

Day 2: Bagan (B, L)
After breakfast at your hotel, your guide takes you to the village of Minnanthu to visit up to three temples in this more remote area. After a picnic lunch in a peaceful location, you can see additional temples with your guide, if you wish, or choose to explore on your own for the afternoon, then meet your guide in the evening for a sunset boat cruise on the Irrawaddy River. Enjoy a different perspective of the temples as you travel along the river, and stop at a sandbank in the middle of the river (if conditions allow) to enjoy a drink and snacks as you watch the sun go down.

Overnight: 3-star Bawgatheiddhi Hotel or similar, Bagan

Day 4: Bagan – Inle Lake (B, L)
After breakfast, travel to the airport for your flight to the Inle Lake region. Upon arrival, your guide takes you on a full-day tour of Inle Lake, an immense natural body of water where traditional villages dot the marshy shores. Travel by private motorboat to villages built on stilts that have been inhabited for centuries by the Intha people. Marvel at lush floating gardens, and watch the lake's famous 'leg-rowers,' local fishermen who propel their small boats by rowing with one leg while standing on the other.

Have a cup of tea at a local family's home, and stop at a colorful weekly market frequented by Shan and PaO people. Visit a small factory where cheroots (Burmese cigars) are made by hand, and stop by Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and the Inthar Heritage House, a lovely spot that's part restaurant, part breeding program for Burmese cats, who became rare in Myanmar after World War II. You also have the option to visit a weaving factory, if you wish. At the end of the day, cruise to your nearby hotel for a relaxing evening on your own.

Overnight: 3-star bungalow at PYI Guesthouse or similar, Inle Lake

Day 5: Inle Lake (B, L)
Spend the morning visiting the overgrown ruins of Inthein, located on Inle Lake’s southwestern shore. Vegetation partially covers the 16th-century temple complex, which features a main pagoda and more than 1,000 weathered stupas. Take in the scenic ruins, then embark on a 1-hour walk to a viewpoint over the lake and Tha Ley village. Visit the village primary school, and then enjoy a home-cooked lunch at a local family’s house. Afterward, continue to Nam Pan village for a canoe ride before returning to your hotel by motorboat.

In the afternoon, learn about Myanmar's Shan culture, starting with a visit to the Buddha Museum, housed in the former haw (palace) of the last Shan prince of Nyaung Shwe. Tour the local market, admiring the colorful traditional dresses and cotton fabrics, and see Shwe Yan Pyay monastery, a handsome old teak building. Then hop in a small wooden boat to cruise through canals and floating gardens, observing local Shan life along the water. End the day with a wine tasting at Red Mountain Winery, one of the only wineries in the country.

Overnight: 3-star bungalow at PYI Guesthouse or similar, Inle Lake

Day 6: Inle Lake – Yangon (B, L)
Have breakfast at the hotel before transferring to the airport for your flight to Yangon. Upon arrival at the Yangon airport, your guide meets you for a full-day tour of the bustling city.

Visit Shwedagon Pagoda and admire the 325-foot (99-meter) gilded pagoda and stupa, learning about Burmese Buddhism as you stroll around the stunning grounds. Explore the city's colonial downtown, and see Sule Pagoda, the harbor and a vibrant local market. Stop for a drink at the Strand, a grand colonial hotel, and visit Shwethalyaung Pagoda to see its immense reclining Buddha. Next up, enjoy a lunch that includes typical dishes from the states of Kachin, Shan and Rakhine. Then hop aboard the circular train, a commuter line that circles Yangon and its suburbs. Look out the windows to observe daily life as you travel to Bogyoke Market, where you'll disembark to explore this popular covered market, housed in a large colonial-era building with more than 2,000 shops that sell handicrafts, jewelry, traditional clothing, lacquerware and other goods.

Overnight: 3-star Clover Hotel or similar, Yangon

Day 7: Departure from Yangon (B)
