Taking the circular train was a wonderful introduction to Myanmar. My guide Myat was wonderful, He pointed out interesting things, explained what people were doing and so helpful. just getting the right train was worth going with a guide.
There was only myself and one other, so it was like a private tour, I didn't feel like a mass of tourists taking up the train .
It was a weekend when I went, so the morning train was less crowded, in the afternoon there were different commuters . So spending the 3 hours and going on the complete trip was worthwhile as you will see different sites.
we stopped for lunch, which was in the cost. It was lovely and very generous, unfortunately I couldn't eat much as I was still jet lagged and too hot.
Make sure you have your water with you.
I liked the old rattly Chinese train over the newer Japanese trains, and getting off at the market was a good idea, I loved saying Hi and seeing what was for sale.

Excellent tour and Myo was great. Got to interact with local folk in the train ride. Market was amazing. Lunch and bird ride on trickshaw was also fun. Not a cushy tourist ride. Train is not air- conditioned and market is bustling. So happy to have found this tour!

A fantastic way to spend a day checking out how the locals travel and live.

cheap way of seeing the ordinary life of Burmese at ground level using train for daily commuting, farming activities, school going children, fresh product in the morning market, hawkers , office workers and etc.

I was lucky enough to have a one to one tour. The tour guide was fantastic. He just kept throwing information at me. The market that we stopped off at was interesting, very busy, you need to watch for people carrying masses of fruit on their backs as they can't see you so you must listen for a kissing sound and then quickly move out of the way. On the train back he brought some fresh fruit and e had a little picnic which was nice. After the trip we went to a local restaurant. I just let him order the food as I didn't know what was best, he chose well.
I would highly recommend this trip.

Our guide Thrua did a great job in explaining everything that we asked, ranging from the culture of Myanmar to everything that we pointed out at. He was a great host and took great care of us. You get to see the real Myanmar on this tour. Worth your dollar.

Great fun and a good thing to do to see a lot of the city. The photo is rather misleading though, as you go on real trains, not something small like we thought from the photo! Our guide was great and was happy to answer our countless questions, so we learnt lots about the country.

Enjoyed being with 'real' people. Our guide Myo was great, very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of insight into life in Yangon.

An excellent introduction to daily life in Yangon. Whilst this is a trip you can do on your own, I would highly recommend taking a tour as you learn so much more about the country and its people. Our guide, Myo, was very personable, well informed and spoke good English, and made our trip come to life.

This will not be everyone's cup of tea, but I really enjoyed getting out into the country side and seeing how people live. Market was fascinating.
