Little mix up on timing. Youseff was told to meet us at 8:00 a.m. and our paperwork stated 9:00 a.m.Youseff waited for us for 1 hour ... and then extended our time with him by 2 hours since we were having such a nice long relaxing day. He was informative, friendly and patient with us as we enjoyed many aspects of Cozumel. We had a wonderful itinerary that we created and Youseff added to our experience. Jeep was plenty big for 4 of us ... Youseff had many contacts to put us with guides to help us shop and to snorkel. I would highly recommend this company, tour and Youseff. :-)
My family and I booked this excursion and I have to say it couldn't have been better. First of all our tour guide Daniel was EXCELLENT! Daniel met us at the designated area. We were early and he was already there waiting. He spotted us and confirmed our reservation details. We then went off to our Jeep which was in very nice condition and had AC! (This was great since we were with 2 young children and it was hot.) Daniel recommended two popular spots which we really enjoyed. He was professional, courteous and very informative. We were also allowed to customize our tour. The entire time he made sure we were enjoying ourselves. We had so much fun driving our own Jeep throughout the town! The areas we visited were beautiful and we definitely recommend this tour.
We booked this trip after watching several You Tube videos of the tour. We were excited to see the places described in the videos. We were a group of 12 family members and made sure to book this trip together and told the booking agent that we wanted to be together. When we met our guide, he only had 8 people on his trip sheet. He was prepared to leave the rest of us behind to “figure it out” but the rest of the group refused to go unless we all went together. He made several phone calls to his boss and it eventually got worked out. We had to walk to where the jeeps were parked only to find out there were not enough jeeps. The jeeps we got were really beat up, and nothing worked inside of them. We crammed everyone into 3 jeeps, 2 of which were not convertible, so no A/C and only rolled down windows to stay cool. The guide had to lead us in a small compact car.We explained to the guide what we wanted to do, but he was persistent about the agenda for the day. Our first start was a Tequila factory tour, which we were excited to see. We all really enjoyed the tour and bought some great tasting Tequila. The Guide then said we were going to another tequila tour. We told him we did not want to go to another tequila tour, but he insisted and told us to please help him so he can get credit for his boss. We basically had no choice, so off to another tequila tour for the same exact presentation, and once again encouraged to buy gifts and tequila from this place as well.We then went for a scenic tour of the island which was really nice, especially the beach locations. Due to the 2 tequila tours, we didn’t have time to stay at the beach. We stopped at a few locations for some quick scenic photos and then back in the jeep. We then headed back to the location for our snorkel and lunch. We were taken to Tortugas Playa, where we told we had to snorkel first, before we could eat. Only the kids wanted to snorkel at this point because the rest of us were starving, so most of the group missed the snorkeling so we could eat. The snorkeling consisted of swimming out from the dock of the restaurant and seeing the fish that hang around the dock. The menu we were given consisted of fajitas, tacos or quesadillas. Anything else was an extra charge. The place was a little pricey. $7 for Guacamole and chips and $10 margaritas. The last stop was for shopping again, which was nothing more than some shabby crammed souvenir shops with pushy sales people. By this point only a few of us even went inside.Riding along the beach was really nice, but that was about the only really got to spend a few minutes at 2 beach locations for photos. It is obvious that the tour is designed to take you to places that they want you to spend money and were encouraged to spend money at these locations by the guide. I would not do this tour again, as it was a long day of being “pimped out” at tourist traps.
Our driver Carlos was amazing. He went out of his way to see to it that we had a great time . One thing that could have been better was the details on pick up location for tourist who's visiting for the first time m luckily we found a nice cab driver who made the call for us to contact the driver . We had a nice time thanks to our driver
This was a fun excursion. Our jeep had an issue with the airbag and was beeping on and off the whole time. Our guide, Julio, was wonderful. Very attentive. We really enjoyed the Tequila tasting and the stop at the local place at a beach for drinks and fresh chips/salsa. The main beach where we had lunch was average. It was very rocky. The snorkeling along the shore wasn't that exciting so we paid extra to go out on a boat for an hour to snorkel. That was excellent and very reasonable. Julio had us back in plenty of time to get back on our cruise ship.
We had a great time, our guide Lalo was fantastic! He brought us to tequila tasting then for some great driving around the island, we got to see a crocodile some Mayan ruins and a beautiful lighthouse. Then we got to enjoy snorkeling and Great fajitas and the best Michelada (Mexican Bloody Mary with beer of your choice). We definitely do this again and recommend it to all.
The morning started off fairly good, slight hiccup as they sent a manual Jeep instead of the automatic Jeep we requested, but my boyfriend and I didn't mind that we would be driven around the island, as we would have more time to focus on sightseeing. Our day started by us stopping at a beach "bar" where we felt pressured to buy a drink even though we had beer and water included in our package. Next stop, another bar, where again we felt pressured to buy food and drink. Then we drove around and our driver told us about different excursions and places we could stop as part of the tour, but quoted prices higher than those that had been listed on Viator. So my boyfriend and I decided to just stick with the ones we had already purchased (a tequila tasting, lunch, and snorkel). We went to the tequila tasting which was cool and informative. Upon leaving there, our tour guide said we would head to lunch and snorkeling but after receiving a phone call, said we'd take a jungle tour shortcut... which literally took us through what I presume to be the local trash dump as there was just mounds of trash along the road and in this sort of opening halfway along the road. Keep in mind, it's August and we are in an open Jeep - not a pleasant smell or sight. We arrive at lunch and our tour guide tells us after lunch we have twenty minutes to snorkel. We ask how much longer we have on the tour and he says an hour, maybe two. We ask if we can extend the snorkeling, as that was what we were really excited for - he says no because he doesn't enjoy being in the water?! We eat lunch, snorkel for a short period, and go to dry and change. We wait for our tour guide to take us back to the Jeep and we see someone driving away in the Jeep we had been in all day (we had our belongings so not a big deal, but weird, also Jeeps were marked so you could tell the difference) and he says hang on we have to switch vehicles. Goes to another Jeep but it has people's belongings in it so he says he has to make some phone calls. Finally after about twenty minutes or so of standing in the parking lot, he tells us to come with him and tells us his manager had to take our Jeep to start another tour and there were no other Jeeps available. He took us home in what I presume was a co-worker's personal vehicle, not the Jeep tour we had paid for. Very unprofessional and I'll think twice before buying through Viator again, as their response to this issue was underwhelming.
