Not guided whatsoever, out "guide" Giuseppe did not communicate well at all - could speak english but did not understand basic questions such as "When are we leaving?" Very unorganized. They lost people on the tour - literally left them behind and our bus went back to florence. No info given at all on what towns we would visit, or why certain ones were selected. Did not get an itinerary or any info at all. Seemed very chaotic and planned on the fly. When we finally did get on a boat to travel, it was absolutely packed (300+) people and no seats - however, of course, all of the "guides" on our tour sat. Very rude when asked as to why they did not have things planned out in advance. Also we spent more time waiting on the bus and at trainstations than we did in some of the towns. Cinque Terre is absolutely beautiful, but this is awful, so avoid spending the money and have a nice seaside lunch instead! Easy to get there with the train to la spezia from florence and take local trains from there. Avoid if possible, and just take the train yourself. I would say this tour was a waste of our money and others agreed, everyone on our bus was frustrated with the lack of communication from our "guide" and the amount of time we spent waiting on trains from town to town.
We were very much looking forward to this trip! We got off to a very rocky start by departing late and missing our first train. Our guide ,Natalia, was very dis-organized and acted as though this was her first tour to Cinque Terre. The trains were very crowded and many people had to stand as well as the whole getting on and getting off was very confusing and frustrating. In fairness to Natalia she was very pleasant and did get things in better order by the end of the day. She also helped us get a taxi back to our hotel after the bus dropped us off. The first two stops were at town center very small and incredibly crowded and congested. The last two stops at Monterosso and Portovenere were very beautiful and enjoyable. We loved the boat rides!
The trip was very good. It is a long day but worth it. It was a hot day and the bus trip was comfortable but it is a bit more of a difficult trip on the train. Our tour guide was very professional, but the only negative is that I feel she could have been more informative on the bus trip as well as in the small towns. She was very good at looking out for all of the tourists in our group to make sure no one was ever left behind. We were basically on our own to explore, We did enjoy the trip and would recommend it, if you have the time. . It was a wonderful day seeing all these little towns and also the larger town of Porto Venere. We also had a very nice lunch in Monterosso. Our guide also made sure everyone was able to find a taxi back to their hotel when the trip was over. She went out of her way for us. Viator is an excellent tour company.
Happy to have had this experience. It was a very long and enduring day but with it. The lunch in Monterosso was fabulous- especially the salad and pasta. Staff at restaurant was great and very accommodating for those not wanting fish. Our guide, Juliana, was excellent keeping up with everyone. My only regrets are that we spend a little more time in the villages. I thought the views from the boat was fantastic! Thanks Victor for a great tour!
This was the best way to see multiple cities of the Cinque Terre area. We visited 4 towns on our tour. The bus, train, and boat transportation gave us the opportunity to view the cities from all angles. The manner in which the tour was set up made the visit to each village efficient and productive. It's highly unlikely that we would have been able to do this on our own in one day. I would highly recommend this trip.
