We would have given this tour an "Excellent" if only it could have been extended to a full day. For the time allotted, it could not have been better. Our guide, Brenda, was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and delightful and she rates an "Excellent". At the start of the tour, we told her that we wanted her to take us to places that as a native of Florence, she wanted us to see. But we also told her about the things we wanted to do. Brenda blended it all perfectly. She was very knowledgeable about places off the proverbial beaten track. We wanted to go to a marketplace not overrun with tourists. Brenda knew exactly where to go. She also took us to a store/warehouse that buys up the contents of churches that close; a kind of theological flea market. I wasn't allowed to photograph, but it was a treat. We would never have found this place on our own. A tip: Time constraints didn't allow us to stay in certain places as long as we would have liked. If you take this tour, allow yourself an extra day to revisit some of the places that you see on the tour. We highly recommend the tour and if you go, ask for Brenda.
After seeing the lines to get into the Vatican Museums, a skip-the-line tour is well worth it. The best part of our tour was our private guide. She was very knowledgable and engaged everyone in our family of six. She really helped us to understand the history and meaning of the artifacts, the gardens, the Sistene Chapel, and the Basilica.
This tour was one of the highlights of our time in Italy. Barbara our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, a great sense of humour and also very passionate about Florence. We thoroughly enjoyed our three hours with her and would not hesitate to recommend her to any interested visitors.
we had a wonderful tour of florence. unfortunately for us we did not realize the morning traffic would be so congested so we were late to meet our guide. she was most gracious and knowledgeable. we had a member of our group who needed to see a doctor and she took care of that also by bringing us to the doctor's office after our tour was done. so in addition to seeing the ponte vecchio, david and the other amazing sights we were so well treated that i would highly recommend this experience.
If I could, I would give Brenda six stars - she was amazing! She met us at our hotel and, being a native of Florence, she was able to take us on a fantastic and informative tour throughout one of my favorite cities in the world. Being that she had relatives in the USA, her english was perfect and she did a wonderful job of making everything about the city understandable and accessible to us.Also, being that she graduated with an art history degree, she was the perfect candidate to walk us through the Renaissance in the footsteps of the masters. Our time on the tour while long over three hours seemed far too brief when it was time to say goodbye to our guide. In that time, we covered all of the high spots in the city Il Duomo, David, etc., and also, many out of the way details that would not be noted by the average visitor. Some of the backstory and facts around the sites gave a great perspective and context as we went through Florence - having a private guide really made a difference. She even made it a point to recommend other sites and restaurants around the town, taking our map and indicating the location of all the spots for our reference later. Brenda made a beautiful city even more wonderful, and I would definitely repeat, although I've already been to Florence. This tour is highly recommended, especially with the right guide. Thank you Brenda!
Siro met us at our hotel promptly and led us through the city and it's history. We did not go into the Duomo because we should have been dressed appropriately - maybe he could have reminded us before we left? He recommended a really good restaurant for dinner, and a place to have refreshments. We enjoyed his company and would say this is definitely the way to go. I can't be a part of a big group tour.
My entire family was disappointed with this tour. We have booked a private tour on our first day in each new city in Italy in order to orient ourselves to the city and learn about it. This is the first one we have not been happy with. Our guide was nice, and as an art historian, she might have been a good guide on an extensive museum tour, as she did a nice job in the Accademia. However, on our tour we did not see many of the advertised places listed in the tour description, including the Pitti Palace, and she ended the tour in less than 2.5 hours. Approximately 1.5 hours of our tour was spent travelling from our hotel to the Academia, waiting in line to get in, and viewing David. That left 1.5 hours for our city tour of Florence but she ended the tour 35 minutes early. We did not realize it until we looked at our watches. When we got back to the hotel and read the tour description we realized all the places we should have seen but did not. As I said, our guide was nice, but not very engaging. Much of the time when walking, it was in silence, no narrative. The following day we did a cooking class in which we purchased the food from various markets in Florence, and we learned more interesting information about the city in the hour that we were walking around purchasing food than we did on this one.
We had a great time on our Florence tour. Our guide picked us up right on time at our agreed upon location and we walked the streets of Florence from 9:30 until 12:30 when we arrived at the Academia. Even the skip the line line took 40 minutes. However, it was well worth it and we really enjoyed seeing Michelangelo's David. Our guide was very knowledgable and able to answer any more in-depth questions we had about the history and art of Florence. My only complaint has to do with the booking process - after I booked the tour I got a text 2 weeks before our trip asking for my email address to arrange the pick-up point. I never received any further communication and had to call several times to get the trip confirmed in the days leading up to the tour. That being said, our guide was there on time and the tour was quite good.
Lara was a wonderful tour guide! She was very knowledgeable about Florence. Although you can certainly not learn all there is to know about Florence in one day, Laura was able to give us a very in-depth yet easy to understand tour that helped us to appreciate the vast history in Florence. We thought she did a wonderful job of describing the history, architecture and culture of the city. Our discussions were very philosophical and we felt like we were in an extremely engaging college class. She was able to answer any questions we had and would alter her tour in order to accommodate us. She even recommended the best leather store in Florence were we got amazing gifts for our family and friends. The tour was very well-paced and hit all of the major sites we hoped to see. She really made our time in Florence unforgettable and we would absolutely recommend her to anyone visiting Florence!
I was impressed that we had the owner of the tour Co. meet us on time at our Airbnb location. She was very accommodating with all of our questions all throughout the tour. Since she had been born in Florence her knowledge of the city was flawless as was her English. It was a wonderful morning and we were all well informed. We were sad when our time was up as we had gained a friend. I would go with her again.
