A fun experience with our guide, I forgot his name but I am sure he can be recognized by the photos I post. He is well-informed and a funny person. He even caught a fish with his hands...and alligators are in those waters! Of course he put the fish back in the water. The day was beautiful, the scenery very different and expansive for this mountain-dwelling person. Gators were seen even in March, thankfully the weather had been unseasonably warm so I think there are a few alligators out early this year. Beautiful birds perched nearby, altogether a wonderful experience.
The actual trip on the airboat - not the one featured in the photo, rather a lower, almost enclosed version - was very good and we had an excellent lady captain. A few small points, the pick up place for the bus said At the Hard Rock Café but it was actually outside and not well signed. The live alligator show was very good but the wildlife exhibit was pretty pathetic with almost no animals. Bus rides were not too long.
So I had been wanting to do this for a long long time. Came to Florida as a child and saw the wildlife show but did not get to do the airboat ride. So expectations may have been a bit high. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice tour and a great way to get a glimpse of the everglades. The day started with us being picked up at our hotel as promised and then being transported to Bayside Market to meet another bus that would take us on the rest of our tour. This was fine and managed quite well. Getting on the second bus was not as smooth as there was a lady in front of us in the line who was the lead person for a group of eight, the rest of whom were behind us. The driver then made us step back and allow all of them on instead of making her wait for the rest of her group. Was not really a big deal, just could have been handled a bit better. Then his microphone was not working, so if you were more than a few rows back you would not have heard any of his comments, information etc.,. Delivered to the site and handled quite well and given good information on what to do, what to look for, what time to be ready etc. Enjoyed the airboat ride and got to see a few animals, mostly right on the channel near the docks. The show afterwards was fun and informative. Food was good. In all, a nice tour and a great way to get out of Miami for a few hours.
Lovely Tour. Enough time The 3.30 hours. They pick up from our hotel was very punctual. The Driver was excellent, very informative and helpful in every possible way. I would like to thank enormously to Jose, the driver for his amazing warmth and professionalism. He made sure we had a good time. Thank so much José.
Unforgettable experience that I strongly recommend to the Miami visitors. A professional treatment by the driver, a motivated and funny local guide and a beautiful place where we had the opportunity to see the alligators at their natural habitat. Without doubts, the best choice!
Excellent tour recommended, the driver picked up us at the scheduled time, very nice driver we went to the place and take our tour all very well, we saw some alligators near us and many birds, the guide very qualified. I really want to do it again.
When booking this tour I didn't realise that each operator takes you to their own area for the boat trip and their own show afterwards. The boat guide was fun and helpful but all we saw was a small turtle and a couple of fish about 12 long. The guide claimed this was due to rain raising the water level but another member of staff later told us that there was water being pumped into this area disturbing things, and they knew there was little to no chance of us seeing a gator. The show consisted of 3 gators in a small pen and lasted maybe 10 mins, nothing like some of the shows you can find on youtube etc. Talking to people at the hotel, and also friends who were also in Miami they had all had a great time on alternative trips, each had seen several gators in the wild plus baby gators and had a great after show. They were all in disbelief when we explained out trip. In summary there are many other operators offering these trips, book one of them rather than making the same mistake we did by booking this one.
