What better way to escape the bustling city of Saigon than to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels by luxury speedboat! The Cu Chi Tunnels are a vast underground network built by guerrilla fighters during the Vietnam War. Our day began with a 7AM pickup from the hotel. We were then transported by air-conditioned van to the launching point where we met the rest of our small group and boarded a speedboat. The 75-minute cruise along the Saigon River was exhilarating! Breakfast was served on the way. Upon arrival at the Cu Chi Tunnels, our guide, Mickey, provided insights into the tunnels including how they were built and what they were used for communications and supply routes, hospital, food and weapons caches. She showed us traps that were set by the Viet Cong to annihilate its foes. What they lacked in might they made up for in cunning. My husband even opted to climb into one of the tunnels. Note: This is not for the fate of heart of claustrophobic. I happily spectated at this portion of the tour. LOL! It is eye-opening to see the war from the opposing side. For example, the war is called the American War by the Vietnamese. Lunch was also served at a riverfront restaurant prior to leaving the tunnels.
We were picked up on time and taken to the speedboat with some site seeing along the way. Our guide was excellent all day. She told us about a variety of things while in the van, on the boat and walking around the tunnels. She had a great level of information and she adapted well to our group. It was very good and we enjoyed it a lot.
Definitely worth doing ! Did it back in April 2018 and glad i did. Tour started with the hotel pick up, which then changed over to a very scenic boat trip to the area where the tunnels are located. Everything was well really organised and carried out without any hitches. The tour was really informative starting off with a very funny propaganda movie and then moving to the tour around the area, showing various campsites, traps, and the tunnels the viet cong used. You had the opportunity to shoot off guns at the range. I didn't do this.We then caught the ferry back to our lunch venue and we were then transported back to our hotels. Guide was very informative and helpful. Transport to and from venue was superb. Trip overall was excellent and highly recommended! .
I highly recommend this tour our guide was excellent and the trip was well organized. We were supplied with continuous drinks and snacks, a delicious lunch was provided . The boat trip was amazing in itself but the tour was very interesting and educational got to go into the tunnels themselves.10 out of ten!
Great trip. Decided to take the speedboat option to the cu chi tunnels and really enjoyed it. Guide was excellent and much more interesting to spend an hour on the speedboat than that and more in a coach. Would definitely recommend a trip to the cu chi tunnels and this tour.
The speedboat tour was a great alternative to the usual car/boat transfer to the cu chi tunnels - no traffic and we got to see the country side cruising down the Saigon river. Our guide Chau was very knowledgeable and extremely professional, making sure our whole morning ran very smoothly. The story of the tunnels was informative and we got a great insight into how the people survived in the war. Lunch to finish off the morning was delicious with plenty of food and drinks. Highly recommend the 7am start to beat the crowds and the heat!
