This truly was not the best representation of Hong Kong and we wish we would have done this on our own. While the tour included a lot of stops, some of them could have been left out and others added. It started with having to take a taxi to another hotel to catch what we thought was the start of the tour, we got on a bus and went to a drop off point to catch another bus. We waited for about 20 minutes for that bus, so almost one hour went by and the only thing we saw was Hong Kong traffic. Once we got started we went to Victoria's Peak, and it was nice. We were able to fast pass up to the front and bypass a huge line, but we were only allotted 20 minutes on the peak and told not to let anyone take pictures of us because we have our "own photographer". After the peak we went to a "historic" fishing village to ride a Sampan, we got on the Sampan, rode around a bunch of docked boats in a dirty harbor, picket up and dropped off taxi passengers and went back, and saw nothing of the village. We then proceeded to a time share of jewelry. We had to sit through a presentation on jewelry, wade through their showroom and wait until they let us go, We were ready but it wasn't time to leave yet. When we finally got out, we went to the "escalators", rode about half way up and then walked to to old police station. Our tour guides at his own admission, said he did not know why we go there because it is all high end art and businesses. Absolute waste of time. After that we went to the harbor and took a ferry across, that was nice. After the ferry, we saw the clock tower then walked to the bus that was going to take us to the dinner cruise - yes another walk to a bus. We get to the dock and were met by a real high strung guide who spoke in half sentences, never finished one sentence. We got on the boat, saw the light show, Shanghai's harbor show is better, and started to eat. Food was okay, what you would expect from an average buffet. They had singers that sang all night, they never stopped. Honestly the cruise was longer than it should have been, it went on and on and on, a lot of passengers wanted off way before it was time. Like I said, drop the jewelry timeshare, drop the art mall, add more time to Victoria's Peak, add some temples and shrines to make it a true Hong Kong tour.

This was a comprehensive look at Hong Kong island and Kowloon in the company of tour guide Ross, who must be the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide in the country. We visited Victoria Peak by tram funicular railway, crossed the harbour on the Star Ferry, had a sampan ride in the marina and finished the day with a boat ride around the harbour at night with a lovely buffet meal and entertainment singers on board. The day was wet and cold, but Ross kept our spirits up with his endless humour and factual commentary wherever we went. We learned about the fend shui of the HSBC bank, it's competitor the Bank of China next door and the various road markings to indicate where land had been steadily reclaimed in front of the banks. We did a walking tour of the ancient part of Hong Kong and visited the site of the old PMQ Police Quarters where domestic dwelling units had been turned into offices and craft work premises. Each unit was just 28 sq. metres and originally housed police officers and their families, sharing kitchen and toilet facilities. Ross told us that most domestic units in HK were of a similar size! House buying is too difficult/ expensive for most residents therefore renting small apartments is the order of the day, although that is an expensive outlay too. Although reclamation is ongoing, the population, including increasing numbers of Chinese mainlanders, is outstripping it. Despite the rain and mist we managed, miraculously, to arrive at Victoria Peak just as the sky cleared and we managed to get a few excellent photos of HK and the harbour from the summit. Very lucky indeed. Ross is a keen student of his homeland and we were treated to endless facts and figures, including opinions and experiences, which provided us with an encyclopaedic account of today's HK and its historical past. Ten very cold and sometimes wet hours were never better spent in a foreign land.

All started well apart from the weather - no view at all from the Peak other than grey cloud - but that was no ones fault. It was very wet and we stopped to put on our raincoats after a coffee stop and by the time we got outside - the group had disappeared and we spent an anxious 10 minutes before our tour guide came back and found us. Apparently, it was other guests on the bus alerted him that we were missing - he hadn't done a head count. Trip continued -no idea why we went to the Police Married Quarters-not much to see but information from David the guide was confusing and made no sense. Upshot of this, we did not get to cross on the Star Ferry or see the Clock tower - one of the reasons we booked the trip - and the guide blamed heavy traffic!! As if the traffic is ever anything else. Cruise was very nice- apart from the weather which spoiled the light show - although food was not very warm and mediocre. Expensive but disappointing day out. Would not recommend this trip and our guide was a bit strange!

Started well pick up from hotel on time peak tram good guide saved us seats and used fast track queue. Then it went downhill wasted time at viewpoint whilst guide took pictures later tried to sell pictures on plates to us. toilets disgusting and only had choice of going up to viewing area or possibly getting a drink. Jewellery factory waste of time saw nothing of actual manufacturing and then into shop for high priced gold. Next stop was at central square for 15 minutes where we were just left to stand about. Then onto alleged longest outside escalator in Hong Kong it was actually several short escalators the first of which was broken so we had to use steps we were then taken to what was described as a market but was in fact an old police station containing small high priced craft shops, a total waste of time. Then to our horror our guide announced that we would not be going on the Star Ferry as we were running late and would go straight to the dinner cruise.
The dinner cruise was excellent with a really good buffet and plenty of it. , The boat was only about one third full so it maybe a different story if it is full. We sat with visitors from Holland , New Zealand and The Phillipines at dinner and we all agreed that the Star Ferry should not have been missed but that the jewellery factory , the Central Square and the escalator / craft shops were awful and these should have been left out not the Star Ferry . We all agreed that the dinner cruise was good but were annoyed that there was no real opportunity during the first half of the tour to get a drink or food thinking maybe there should at least be water on the bus.
My own advice would be to just book the evening dinner cruise.

The Victoria Peak/Sky Terrace and Dinner Cruise were good but the rest of the tour is not that great, esp the visit to Aberdeen Fishing Village. When none of us agreed to the sampan ride, we just stood there and waited for the bus to come back for us. May be better to just include the sampan ride to the tour price. Our tour guide Marco was nice and took care of the PWD that joined the tour.

Although the tour showed us everything as advertised, I would not have booked it if I had known we would be shifted between 6 different drivers/guides. Our driver showed up at the Harbour Plaza 8 Degrees with no sign. After watching him standing in the lobby for several minutes, I approached him and found out he was our driver. He drove us to another location where we waited 30 minutes for a larger bus to arrive. Here we met Joelle our guide. However, she took us to Victoria Peak Tram where we turned over to Ricky. Ricky was great and showed us the Peak, sampan ride at Aberdeen, Stanley Market, Star Ferry, and the clock tower. We then walked to the Marco Polo Hotel to wait for our next guide. However, Rex did not arrive so we walked to the bus station where we were picked up by Ross. He took us to the pier and turned us over to Rex who promptly took the wrong stairs and we almost missed our ship tour. After the tour we were turned over to another driver and, after 4 stops, returned to our hotel. A long day with far too many transfers and waiting.

This was a very good tour.....met some nice people and loved the dinner cruise. It was a good way to get an overview of Hong Kong on my first day.
Going to the Peak was awesome and fortunately the time at the jewelry factor was very brief, just half an hour. Good move Viator on not dragging it out.

The dinner cruise had very good food....and I really enjoyed the tour, it was a very full day.

, dez 2016

All was well except that there was one destination which was not part of the package, i.e to visit a jeweller shop where we spent a lot of time nearly 45 mins just to hear a presentation on how the company made jewels. This reduced considerable time to do more better thing like shopping at Stanley market where we had to rush to do shopping.
