The Cinque Terre was beautiful and this tour definitely gave a good overview of the area, but there is room for improvement. I had paid for pickup and dropoff to my b and b. The van was a bit late picking me up in the morning and when the bus dropped us off for the van driver after the tour, he was not there yet. There were 2 of us and we were dropped off in a McDonald's parking lot and left to try to figure out who the van driver was when he got there.

We visited 3 of the 5 towns of the Cinque Terre plus Porto Venere. I think they tried to cram too much into one tour, because the whole thing felt rushed. Our guide, Chiara, did her best, but there was just too little time. We stopped for optional lunch in one of the towns, and by the time the meal was over, there was hardly any time to see the town before we had to line up for the boat to Porto Venere.

All and all, I felt the tour gave an overview of the towns, but there was really not much discussion of their history, etc., and there was too little time to see the various towns. I feel it would be better to skip one or two of the spots and have a bit more time at each location. I will probably go back on my own and just take the train so I can see the area at my leisure.

Amazing tour, loved our boat trip and our guide was fantastic. The only negative was our group was too large. Highly recommend seeing Cinque terre

This was the most disappointing tour of my entire trip to Italy. First, I was picked up at my hotel late by a man who did not speak to me at all, and spoke to the other people in the car in Italian. He never once attempted to speak to me in English to include me in the conversation - even though he was fluent in English. Then, he drops us off at a rest stop on the side of the highway - again, doesn't speak to me to explain why I am being left there. The other people in the car were nice enough to tell me that a bus would be picking us up. After waiting for 15-20 minutes, a tour bus picked us up. I had booked other tours with Viator and expected a small tour like the others that I'd been on. Obviously with a double-decker bus that wasn't the case. Then we finally arrived in Cinque Terre and only got to spend a short amount of time in each place. I purchased the lunch but by the time we got to the last place I was so frustrated that I wanted to explore on my own so I ditched the lunch. On the way back we were again left at a rest stop, picked up by the same nasty man who again did not speak to me and brought back to my hotel. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Excellent full day trip.

It was too large of a group of people on the tour. There was little insight and history about the villages we visited, and too little time spent in three of them.

The word tour is misleading-more a cattle herding by, what appeared to be,unqualified tour guides. Picked up in Lucca in a van and taken to a McDonald's outside city walls where we were to meet up with the tour. Signed up for an English speaking tour. When the tour bus arrived, majority of individuals were Spanish speaking. Though the guides did speak English, they had to be prodded to use it. We did assume the tour would be that-a tour with a guide pointing out some of the interesting factors of the village. We were taken to La Spezia to board the train to the Cinque Terre. No id badges or tickets were issued to us.Weather extremely hot and the crowds extremely large. Realizing Viator has no control over these issues, they should have managed the 50-75 people and keep them together as a.There were hundreds of people at each of the train stops. It was very confusing and disconcerting to be in the sea of humanity not knowing exactly what was to happen. We were packed on the train in Riomaggiore like cattle, in a standing position and had 30 minutes in Riogmaggiore, Manarola and Vernazza - my 2 companions actually had an experience of attempted pick pocketing on this train while we were so tightly packed. We were to take a ferry from Vernazza to Monterosso where we were to spend the bulk of our time - about 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Here we were herded together right outside a restaurant on the pier where the ferry was to pick us up.We were standing in the hot sun for about 30-45 minutes waiting for the ferry.Only comparison I can make are the photos I have seen of immigrants crammed into small fishing vessels trying to make a sea crossing. We were only going a short distance but the ferry was so packed some people had no seats and if an emergency would have occurred, I fear the outcome. When we arrived,we asked the mainguide when we needed to return to the train station for our return to La Spezia. He would not tell us. More to say no room.

Cinque Terre is amazing! We had to take trains all day due to weather. What a shame! Amadeus was a great guide. DO NOT pay extra for lunch. The food was awful and the place very unpleasant! I Learned my lesson the hard way! Roman the driver in Lucca was very polite and punctual. Grazie.

The villages were beautiful. Definitely worth the time to see. Our guide was in such a rush. I did fine but some people had a hard time keeping up. Wished we had not included the lunch and ate somewhere with a view of the water. If we had a guide that slowed the pace down it would have been much better.
