Well run tour. Annie was engaging as a tour/host and we appreciated his knowledge of the various locations. Driver and tour guide bent over backwards to show us the most they could within the timeframes of the tour - Their understanding of traffic patterns and openings of the various tour spots allowed us to maximize our time in Delhi and see as much as we could. We also enjoyed the safe street food advice as we loved eating the local food and not getting even a wee bit ill.
Don' bother wasting your money on this tour. The guide was not a registered guide so he was not supposed to be guiding when we got to each of the sites. He would allow for me to go through the entrance and then meet up with me only once we were well inside. The guide also had very limited knowledge of each of the sites and was not really able to explain anything. Reading the boards was far more useful than having a guide. If all you are expecting is transportation from one site to the next, this is the tour for you but if you are actually looking for a guide to help explain what you are seeing, I suggest you look for another tour.
The tour itself is great, our guide was Sammy and we had great time with her, other detail is that it is almost impossible to do this tour by youself in only one day considering the crazy traffic in New Delhi.
On the other hand, you have to pay all the entrances and even another guide in Qutub Minar, so I had the impression that the price is really high, comparing all the other prices in India, maybe if you search this tour on the hotel, it will be much cheaper.
This was a great day in Delhi. Our guide, Sammy from Urban Adventures navigated us through the pouring rain with ease. We had a great time shopping in the Delhi bazaar with her expertise. Our first ride on a tuk-tuk was thrilling. The Sikh temple, Humayun's Tomb, Qutb complex, Gandhi's last residence and the Step Well were probably our favorite sites. With only one day to spend in Delhi, this gave us a great varied experience.
Our guide Abhilekh was so knowledgeable yet flexible to our group's preferences and main interests,
and with five people that was no easy task.
He showed us Old Delhi and New Delhi and gave us a ton of history and cultural context wherever we went.
He helped us negotiate and ride some rickshaws through the streets which made us feel like locals.
He also recommended a great restaurant near Gandhi's memorial which gave us a perfect midday break.
Overall, we had a fantastic time with Abhilekh, ask the tour company for him and you will not be disappointed.
The tour guide was very good. She was knowledgeable and focused on giving me a great experience. I am at an age when steps can be a challenge. She was very patient and helpful when I needed some extra time to climb stairs. She went out of her way to find destinations which would interest me. For example, I wanted to take photos of people in the streets - she planned our routes so I could take the pictures I wanted. I was very pleased.
Three stars or four stars??? Couldn't decide. The tour itself included all the key sites one would want to see during a visit to Delhi four stars, however, there were no special touches that I've read about in other reviews i.e., rooftop views in Old Delhi. I don't know how flexible our guide Mahip would have been with customization, since we didn't make any special requests. Mahip was efficient and made sure we got everywhere including to shops that sold the few items we were interested in purchasing, which was appreciated, however, there was no effort to be extra friendly in fact, he was always many paces ahead of us in walking, having no regard for the fact that we wanted to be able to take in our surroundings especially while walking through the streets of Old Delhi. We did enjoy the food at the restaurant Mahip selected for our lunch. So, you decide .... would this be a three-star or four-star tour from your perspective?
This was a pretty great way to see most of the major sights in Delhi in one day. Abhi the guide was quite knowledgable on everything we saw and was a pretty friendly guy besides, which put me at ease. I didn't feel like just another tourist to be led around even though that was kind of the case.
I had a list of things I wanted to see and we covered nearly all of them, not doing Red Fort because I mentioned I would be at Agra Fort the next day and it's supposed to be a lot bigger. I didn't really have that many special wishes so I can't speak for how customisable the tour can be, but for me it was close to perfect.
