The trip was beautiful, despite being cloudy and cool. My meal was wonderful and traveling companions on the cruise were friendly. My only criticism is there was almost no commentary on what we were seeing, so I was disappointed not to learn about the history of the region. All in all, it was worthwhile.

Excellent tour and well organized. It was just what we wanted to do. I didn't want to drive or stay overnight. This was perfect and we met interesting people on the boat.

I was confused about how best to see the Duoro, but decided on this trip because of the reviews and ratings. I was largely disappointed by the tour, although I suppose it is as described. We met at the train station at 8am, took the train from 8:25am to 10:15am, walked directly from the train to the boat 10 mins, and then was on the boat from 10:45am to 5:15pm. The views are nice for sure. However, it gets old very fast. 2 hours on a train and 6.5 hours on a boat was just too much. I was there with my toddler, husband and my parents. Maybe this would have been better for older people.

The food was fine potato soup, pork and potatoes and cheesecake still slightly frozen. At the end, I saw a waiter carrying stacks of clean plates by balancing on his chin. That was after I ate, so didnt matter much to me. Still gross.

The bathrooms were clean. The boat is nice. The entire first floor is set up with the tables and chairs but you can stand upstairs although there is no shade or enclosures upstairs.

I found this wasnt worth devoting a whole day and it wasnt worth the 100. I would recommend finding a different way to see the Duoro.

Relaxing tour with train and lunch on boat. Three course lunch with ample of wine. Food was very good. Relaxing six hour cruise on the Douro back to Porto. Two very interesting locks to pass!

We made the reservations through Viator. A company called Barcadouro called the day before to confirm where and what time we should meet. The tour begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Sao Bento Train Station. The train ride to Ragua was scenic and interesting. We were given an hour to walk around, get something to eat, and then we boarded the boat ride back to Porto which was a leisurely 6 hour cruise downstream. The ride on the barge included a nice, leisurely lunch with a bottle of wine per couple. You can ask for beer if not a wine drinker. The photo ops and vistas off the barge were the best.

          Booking process - easy
Vendor comms - very good, detailed email with instructions came following booking and the tour company rang me the day before to reconfirm.
Meeting place / time - exactly as agreed.
          Train trip -comfortable and interesting
Boat trip-excellent, great views of the Douro Valley. Meal was fine but dont expect choice or haute cuisine or fine wines. Veg soup and roll followed by pork slices, boiled potatoes, rice and veg. Desert was a cake containing chocolate and ice cream. A bottle of red wine, water and orange squash was provided per couple.
On board bar - quite good, reasonable selection and inexpensive?
Tour personnel - helpful and polite and friendly.

Really enjoyed the train and boat trip into the Douro Valley. We did not have the best of weather but nevertheless it was a great opportunity to enjoy a very good lunch while on a lovely river, passing by beautiful vertical vineyards and small towns.
Pay close attention to the tour guide when boarding the train at Porto, Sao Bento station. Otherwise, it was easy to navigate through the event. Service on the boat was great. A good family activity.
I would like to go again on a sunny day.

Meeting the guide was difficult. She did not have an obvious sign, only a clipboard pointed downward and a badge that very hard to to read. The first hour of the train trip was very ordinary, suburbs and industries. After that things got better, river views and vineyards.
The boat was modern and uncrowded. Lunch was pleasant with wine of the vin ordinaire variety, water and orange drink provided.
The views were pleasant. Unfortunately rain began a couple of hours into the river trip but there was plenty of warm dry accommodation on the boat. We were returned to the river bank near the middle of town, not to the meeting point and not told how to get back. The return information should have been provided in advance.
The trip works well, the guiding needs to be tightened up.

          , nov 2017

Our group of 8 enjoyed the train and boat trip on October 13. Unfortunately the area was suffering from lack of precipitation so the hillsides weren't their usual beautiful green. There was also smoke from forest fires which limited the view. These issues, of course, weren't things that could be helped by the tour company.
I was disappointed in that the tour guide seemed to speak only about the sizes of the bridges and locks along the way. This information was interesting, but it would have been nice to have heard more about the history, vineyards, etc.
          Food and waitstaff was good.
