Our guide on the way to Pompei and in Pompei itself was amazing, very informative and interesting. We spent 2 hours in Pompei and in very hot summer day it's more than enough. Don't forget to take water with you as there is no possibility to buy water once You enter Pompei. Our guide took us to all most important sites in the city and we certainly got the idea how it was to live in this city before vulcano destroid it!
After Pompei we were taken to
Fabrezio was our tour guide and he was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, energetic and entertaining. The day moved smoothly from our trip to Vesuvius, lunch and then Pompeii. I do think that people should be aware that it is quite physically demanding to walk to the top of Vesuvius and back in the allotted time. One couple took longer than they should have which delayed the tour for 26 minutes past our departure time. Not Fabrezio's fault. Pompeii is fascinating and would not have been as interesting without Fabrezio's insightful stories. All in all a great and memorable day.
Great day in Pompeii and to Mont Vesuvius. In the morning we went to Pompeii to see the old city that once had been burried under ashes. The guide explained us how it has been discovered and how archeologists work. He guided us in the city, telling us everything about how it was back then. It was perfect to see and understand Pompeii, even if it was a bit crowdy we went in July. In the afternoon, the bus took us to Mt Vesuvius where we could take a 20 min. walk to get to the summit to see the volcano crater and the bay of Naples. I would recommend it for the sight, but only for those in good shape. I really loved my day!!
started the day off with an hour and 15-minute drive to pompeii from Sorrento, the tour was great and our tour guide Anna was so lovely and hilarious. the only thing I would change about the Pompeii tour is to have it longer and see more things. we only spent a couple hours walking around Pompeii and didn't get to see many sights. we then stopped for lunch at a restaurant which was 13 set menu, we could choose from pizza, a couple pasta's, pork and chips, fish and chips and salad, it included a drink and a small piece of cake at the end. coffees were 3 extra. next was a 45-minute drive up to Vesuvius, its a 10 entry fee which gets collected on the bus. they give you about an hour and a half - 2 hours to get up and down the mountain, it was a steep walk but so rewarding once at the top. the views were incredible especially because i went on a clear day. there are 2 shops at the bottom with portaloos which charge a euro, a shop in the middle and one at the top, we were back at the coach with a meeting time of half 3, then we were back in Sorrento about 5.15pm.
We loved this tour! It was super convenient having them arrange for pick up at our hotel. The drive to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius was short and comfortable, although on the way home the bus driver seemed to have some trouble figuring out how to turn on the a/c.
Our tour guide, Anna, was fantastic! You can tell she is very passionate about her country and the history at these two sites. She was very informative and friendly. She made sure to help us every step of the way and made getting in and out of the sites a breeze. She recommended and brought us to a reasonably priced restaurant for lunch, which was great, because many places are expensive tourist traps when you have to purchase food/drinks at sites like these.
